An important and early work on microscopic observation, remarkable for its beautifully engraved illustrations of plants, animals, and other organic and inorganic substances, including various kinds of miscroscopes and optical experiments, most of which are hand colored. These plates were engraved after the author's designs by the publisher, Adam Wolfgang Winterschmidt (1733-1796), at Nuremberg.
