This a Martin-type version of a drum microscope has focusing by pushing the body tube in a collar. Over the stage, two holes on the sides of the drum permit to insert a glass phial 16 cm long; a spring is under the stage. The concave mirror is in good condition. The accessories include six objectives (signed 1, 3, 3, 4, 5, 6), stage forceps, a stage support for a bull's eye (missing), tweezers, four wooden slides, a fluid tray, a glass magnifier, a small box for holding turpentine, two needles with wooden handle, an ivory plate with dark and white side. The drawer inside the box contains a handwritten paper with the list of six wooden slides, six wooden slides, eleven glass slides (all with animal parts), two blank glass slides, a red paper box with label: Circles No. 2 Inch 7'8 C. Baker 244 High Holborn LONDON.
All is packed in an elegant French polished mahogany box, lined with brown velvet.
Accompanying the instrument is a printed sheet, in English and French, which gives a description of the microscope and how to use it.
