This
microscope, that can be disassembled, is contained in a mahogany box, with supports
covered with green baize. Inside the lid are housed two tweezers, scissors and
an aluminium rod, probably a replacement. The instrument is housed into the
box in a manner to minimize the space: infact, the first to be placed is the
triangular foot, followed by the pillar, a little leather box and the stage;
then the mirror, the objective and a glass disc to put on the stage.
When it is mounted, the tripod foot supports a round pillar. Two horizontal
screws with knurled turning wheels fix the stage on the top. A triangular section
limb is used for focusing by rackwork; on the top of it there is a horizontal
arm with an unthreaded brass circle at the end that supports the lens, moved
by rackwork. The mirror is fixed on the foot by a joint.
